Hi All,

I hope you are well!  Wondering if you could help me out here - I am working on a new feature for the SEPM that should reduce the amount of disk space we need to store content.  We are looking into what our defaults should be.  If you have 5 minutes, could you let me know the following:

What your "Number of content revisions to keep" setting is currently set to (Admin, Servers, Local Site Properties, LiveUpdate tab)

What is the size of the disk you have SEPM installed on?

How much free space on that disk?

Error 25010 - SEP 12 RU 2

Good day,

I get this error when I try to install SEP 12 RU2 on one of my servers?

Product: Symantec Endpoint Protection -- Error 25010. Could not locate "Microsoft Test Root Authority" certificate in "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" store. It is required for this build of Symantec Endpoint Protection. Please install it and retry Symantec Endpoint Protection installation.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this

Move SEp client from one SEPM to another

I need a solution

Hi,

I have two different SEPM servers which are nowhere linked. I have clients in both the SEPM servers.

I would like to move the SEP client (servers) from SEPM1 to SEPM2. I want the exact policies of the clients in the SEPM1 to be applied in the SEPM2 as well

 

Is there any way i can import the policies from SEPM1 to SEPM2? or is there any other way this can be achived?

Duplicate Definition Folders under SEP 12.1.2

I need a solution

Hello folks -

An app owner brought this to my attention this morning stating that SEP is holding on to duplicate definition files and taking up space that they can use on their servers. I was wondering if someone could help me understand why SEP does it and if there is a way to eliminate this issue all together.

 

SO under take a look at this screenshot as you can see CurrenVersion folder contains the same defs as the Data/Definition/VirusDef folder.

 

Can anyone clarify why is that the case please and if there is a way to remove a duplicate?

SEP 12.1

I need a solution

I want to migrate a SEPM server version 11 to version 12.1. I have several SEP11 clients and I'm not trying to upgrade them to version 12 right now. I'm just trying to ugrade our SEPM department server to version 12, just to be able to support a few new SEP12 clients and continue to support the current SEP11 clients.

The question is: should I request new SEP12 licenses only for the new SEP12 endpoints I'm going to install? after the temporary 90-day upgrade license expires, will my current SEP11 continue to get updates even if I don't gather a license for them? I understand the current SEP 11 clients would continue to work with the old not enforced licensing schema.

The process to request seveal new SEP12 licenses may be a little bit painful, so I'm asking this in order to know if I should keep my current SEPM 11  at that version level or if I could go ahead to SEPM version 12 getting new licenses only for the new SEP12 endpoints. I need to make sure the old SEP11 endpoints will continue to get updates.

I appreciate your help.

The current version of SEP is 12.1.x.x. We have now few win 2012 server which has to be installed with Symantec Antivirus. We are observing  compatibility issue. Please help...

Error with Directory Authentication: Unable to authenticate the directory account

I need a solution

In the past when I would create accounts in the SEP Management Console, I would use the person's Directory Authentication, and then press the button "Test Account", and it would be a success.

Now, I am trying to create an account for a new user to SEPM, and I get error, "Unable to authenticate the directory account. Verify that the directory server and account name entered are correct, and try again."

I then tested the pre-existing accounts that are already in SEPM, and that can successfully authenticate using directory authentication, and I get the same error, "Unable to authenticate the directory account. Verify that the directory server and account name entered are correct, and try again."

Why is this happening, and how do I fix it. We recently upgraded to SEP 12 RU2.

SEP Unable to install..1708 & 1603

I need a solution

Hello,

Been trying to install SEP 11.0.6 on two servers and keep on falling flat! Please can someone assist...I have uploaded the SEP_INST log file - too much to go over. Servers are Win 2K8 R2 and had SEP installed but I uninstalled it (as the service would not start) and did cleanwipe as well. Still, not able to install. 

The errors seem to be 1708 and 1603.

SEPM server health monitoring.. - How to outright disable??

I need a solution

I've already got SolarWinds for monitoring. - Running on the same box with SEPM no less.

Therefore, I don't want / need SEPM's own internal server health monitoring, NPM is doing that.

I've found where to disable / reschedule the reporting (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...) but where can I simply disable it entirely?

Upgrade from 11.0.6 to 12.1.2, now SEP client won't open

I need a solution

Hi, we are in the process of updating our SEP clients from 11.0.6 to 12.1.2. We have a new server in place running SEPM 12.1.2, I have updated about 90 clients to talk to this new server, that part is all good.
I have now updated 1 SEP client from 11.0.6 to 12.1.2 (using a group install package), I got the notification, clicked download, then got another notification and let it reboot my PC.
I've logged in, then double clicked on the SEP tray icon, I got UAC prompt which I understand is normal (but annoying since SEP 11 didnt' do that), I enter my admin creds and click ok, but then nothing happens, no SEP UI. I task manager I see a SymCorpUI.exe process for each time I've tried to open the SEP UI.
In SEPM I see my PC has updated, Deployment status = Install seccussful, Deployment target version and Deployment running version both = 12.1.2015.2015.
Have I done something wrong? Would a policy stop the UI displaying? I've just imported all our policies from our SEPM 11 server.
(about the UAC prompt, I see the same behavour as this guy https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sep-12-client-prompts-uac-access, we have a SEP 12.1 package for another department, it's installed manually, and there is no UAC prompt to open the UI, I might just end up installing "manually" if this is what happens, we want the users to be able to open the UI and check the status)

Yesterday night one incedent reported, one of the laptop which are on the sep group where bluetooth block policy assigned but bluetooth is running in the laptop.

Data transferring successfully. I have added the device id on the sep server group to block it but bluetoth is continuously working

help...!!!

All'avvio del setup della SEPM dice che "Symantec ha rilevato la presenza di modifiche di sistema ed il server deve essere riavviato" malgrado il riavvio la situazione è sempre la stessa. Avete qualche idea?

Device Control not working with device id on windows 7

Hello everyone!

I have some problems with device control on windows 7. The problem is that windows 7 give me a device id like this: STORAGE\VOLUME\_??_USBSTOR#DISK&VEN_KINGSTON&PROD_DT_101_G2&REV_PMAP#00187D1174C2EB2020007000&0#{53F56307-B6BF-11D0-94F2-00A0C91EFB8B} while the windows xp give me a device id like: STORAGE\REMOVABLEMEDIA\7&2062D39A&0&RM. So when I tried to add a policy hardware exception on every windows 7 machine it doesn't work with that id, however in windows xp works perfecly. I've tried to get the device id over "DevViewer", "Windows" and "Applications and device control logs" in all cases I get the same device id. 

Someone had this problem??
