Deploying End Point Protection v14

Hi Everyone, 

I am looking for deployment solution please can someone Guide me through, 

Currently, in my Environment, we are running End Point Protection v12, I want to deploy V14 what would be the best practice in work. 

should I deploy it on a new server? if so how what about the client communication part? 

If i install it on the current server mind u i cant go for an upgrade so i have to simply install V14 is that going to be practical. 

The reason why i am asking is i create a test lab where the client on V12 didn't communicate with the test server v14, i had to manually copy the syslink file for it to communicate with the test server and then i could update the client to v14. 

Please can someone guide me its my first major project
