SEP Exceptions

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

We run a proprietary client/server application in our network.  Sometimes it will randomly freeze and it definitely seems to be related to Symantec.  After disabling Symantec, things seem to work then.  What I have done so far:  I put a firewall rule in place to allow client/server communication. I also added an exception for the proprietary program in the shared policy under the policies section.  However, I followed some instructions to locate the exclusions in the registry on the clients and couldn't find anything there.  The shared exceptions are definitely not showing up under change settings on the SEP client.   Also, If I add an exception for this proprietary application, does the exceptions under policies ommit scans for every scan type (A/V, Sonar, IPS)?
