Threats Detection on Linux

I need a solution

Please refer to the attached file.

We are trying to deloy SEP on Linux in our environment.  Our linux team asked us what SEP can detect on Linux, so we opened a case with Symantec and got the attached file as reference.

When we sent that file off to our Linux team, below is the response that we got from the linux team that is verbatem.

The list is the total list of virus definitions for all platforms; well over 99% of those listed are specifically for Windows executables.  What we were asking for was the list of Linux-specific signatures, not all of the signatures.

This is relevant because none of our Linux systems touch Windows executables or files – they are neither mail servers nor file servers.  If the Symantec definitions supported by this product only cover Windows signatures, there’s no reason to run the product on Linux.

Is it possible for Symantec to provide a list of all Linux threats detected by SEP?

Is the above response from our Linux team correct?  If so why have SEP on Linux?
