We are a small shop and have been running SEP 12.1.6 MP3 with no issues. Our SEPM runs on a VM with the OS W 2008 R2. We are using Hyper-V on a large Win 10 Host. Today I upgraded the SEPM to 12.1.6 MP4 with no issues. I pushed out client upgrades to a few machines again with no issues. The clients could communicate with the SEPM as they always have. However after I upgraded the Hyper-V Host to client version 12.1.6 MP4 I noticed that the SEPM was now only communicating with the SEPM VM and the Host. All other machines on the local network and a remote VPN network showed as off line and would not connect to the SEPM. After some trial and error I found if I turned off SEP on the Hyper-V Host, the other machines on the network could connect to the SEPM. For now I created an exception rule on the HOST SEP client's firewall and all other clients can now communicate with the SEPM.
We never had this issue with 12.1.6 MP3 and had not needed an exception rule of any type on the Hyper-V Host to allow communication with SEPM running in a VM. What has changed with SEP 12.1.6 MP4?
