vpdebug.log.02-14-06-29-2015 log files taking more than 5 GB space

Large number of Vpdebug.log files are created in the location C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\12.1.6318.6100.105\Data\Logs occupying more than 5 GB data. Please check the attached image for reference.

I can easily clear those files, but i would like know why these files are being created?
