a co-worker and I had a diskussion today, if SEP mobile analyzes data which you sent via SSL e.g when you do online banking on the mobile device, before the data is encrypted. Any hint to that? Could not find any information to that.

Got a SEP client (14.0.3752.1000) on a 2012 server that's got problems. Ran CleanWipe and reinstalled. No joy. SymDiag shows a bunch of definition sets as corrupted. Each one says "No usage definition directory found".
Looking at the definitions folder, I'm only seeing the following:
AdvMLDefs
BASHDefs
EfaVTDefs
IronRevocationDefs
IronSettingsDefs
IronWhitelistDefs
SDSDefs
SRTSPSettingsDefs
STICDefs
VirusDefs
Other servers show more. Any suggestions?

I want restrict RDP port 3389 and SMB port 445 to a server for certain users. Please help me to create same. Is there an existing policy that I can just import on the SEPM. Would also like to log activity on both port for certain users. Thanks to help.

Google released Update 78 for Chrome and since then it's seems to be broken for symantec endpoint protection users.
The problem is you can't load any pages, You will get "Aw, Snap" Error.
Anyone know a permanent solution?

In new Symantec Endpoint Protection cloud console I see there are default browser isolation policies for Firefox, IE, Chrome and Edge but not Edge Chromium. How can I get default policy for Edge Beta / Dev versions? It is hard to define every rule for it manually.

I want to apply the location-based policy based on the ethernet network connection in SEPM. Like if I’m connected with the certain ethernet connection say ‘XYZ’ than my location changes to say ‘Office’ and when I’m connected with the ethernet say ‘ABC’ my location changes to the home.

If a Windows Device class is niether on the Blocked list or Allowed list, does this mean the class is enabled or disabled?
Im trying to troubleshoot some device control issues and im looking for clarification if a device in a specific class should work or be blocked automatically if not specidfically defined.

I am the SEPM admin for an organization, and we currently have rules in place to block access to USB storage access on our endpoint PCs. We have it set up in SEPM's device control to notify the users that USB storage access is blocked by company policy. This is working pretty well for us, but I have been notified by users that they receive the same popup for devices that are "allowed/unblocked", as well. These are USB devices like headsets and mice, which have already been explicitly allowed in the blocking exclusions.
I realize that this was due to the notification settings. It shows in SEPM this popup notification is displayed on the user's SEP client whenever a device is blocked or unblocked. Obviously, the message it displays about USB storage being blocked doesn't really apply to these HIDs, but it causes users to be concerned and wonder if functionality has been hampered. (The popup message actually does show "Allowed the device" at the top of the message, but the combination of the two messages in the Win10 notification area causes confusion.)
I was hoping for either a fix or creative solution to have the notification message differentiate between whether a device was blocked or unblocked. We do appreciate providing our users notifications when their USB storage device has been blocked, so I'd like to keep this setting enabled. This way, they can reach out to our support team and see about doing an alternate method of file transfer. Ideally, however, I would prefer they NOT receive a popup notification when the device is unblocked/allowed.
Quick notes:
-We recently upgraded SEPM to the latest version: 14.2.4815.1101
-Most clients still have version 14.0.3897.1101, will be updating to new version soon
Symantec worked on the machine flawless until ~3 days ago where SEP won't open anymore.
Nothing was installed on the system and no infiltration could be detected.
Repairing the software ends with a error that the application could not be repaired.
What could I do to get SEP running again?
I can not start/stop most of the SEP services.

We just installed SEP Cloud and had all of our users install the client. Some of my windows users are software engineers using Visual Studio. The files we build are being quarantined everytime we build them. The get built in a different folder each time, so i can't modify the policy to exclude the files as it needs the full path.
How do i set this up so our Visual Studio developers can work without having to un-quarantine the files everytime they build?
