Deployment Remote Push still not working in SEP 14?

I ran into the same issue as Jeffrey Osborn that still appears to have no resolution in https://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/issues-rem...

When I try to run the remote deployment push method; all I see are green square-circle boxes and nothing happens. There is no SEP_INST.Log to be found and nothing ever happens on the clients. We did everything in the documentation to prepare our clients as we have been using this push method since SEP 11 without any issues. I had to spend my entire day going around to the computers, logging in, and manually running the installation program during our downtime window.

Needless to say I am very frustrated, this makes the third problem we have had with SEP version 14 thsi month (which includes the engine issue on 8/7/17). I have submitted numerous requests on the SymBeta program to become a beta tester of the Symantec products so we can test them before we go live but to no avail.

Has anyone been able to get remote push to work in SEP 14?

scheduled backup of embedded database not working

Hello,

we are running SEP 14 on a Server with Microsoft server 2012. In SEPM scheduled backup of embedded database is set to Sunday at 14:00, but the backup of the database is not created (same happened in SEPM 12, never got it working). The manual backup is working fine, keeping the requested 4 versions, so it is not a matter of file security etc.

Are there any logfiles which I can check? I am wary to rely on manual backups, only.

Need to "Delete clients that have not connected" depending on client group

I need a solution

We are using SEP14 and the setting for "Delete clients that have not connected" is configured for 21 days at the domain properties.

We also have a Citrix XenApp 6.5 server farm that is provisioned by Citrix Provisioning Services.
Every sunday all our 64 servers are being rebooted and reload their OS from a single golden image file.
While preparing the golden image file the SEP host GUID, hardware ID and the file sephwid.xml are being deleted as it is recommended for imaging a system that SEP is installed on.
Therefore these IDs are newly created at each reboot.
This also means that after the reboot I have 64 new servers showing up in the console and the old server entries are shown as offline.

My idea was to configure the value "Delete clients that have not connected" for this client group to 1 or 2 days, but the value only seems to be configurable at the domain properties.

Is there a way to configure it on a client group level?

If not, is there a configuration that takes care of the provisioning services issue? (e.g. a match using the hostname)

Symantec Error after upgrade to windows 10

Hi Guys,

I face the strange problem with the Symantec endpoint version 12.1.6318.6100. First the symantec installed on windows 7 then it upgraded to windows 10, at this point, the symantec was running normally but when we patch the windows 10 to latest patch (win 10 version 1703), the symantec became error and we uninstalled it. unfortunatelly, we could not install it back, and then we installed with higher version but when we installed it, the network interface of PC was not be able to be red even the symantec run normally. So the symantec was uninstalled again and the network interface is normal again.

The PCs now dont have any endpoint protection, I have tried another endpoint to protect the PCs temporarelly, but it can not be installed due to latest symantec not clearly uninstalled.

Please help me out of this problem, because we dont either install the symantec endpoint or other product endpoint.

Clients not updating when Network Application Monitoring is Enabled

I need a solution

Hi, I was trying to enable network application monitoring so I can "Allow and Log" when an application change is deteced on client computers. But when I enable network application monitoring, I notice the policy doesn't update on all of the clients computers (stays at the old policy serial number). When I disable network application monitoring, the policy starts updating again. I am running SEPM 12.1.7061.6600 on Windows Server 2016. Any help on this would be appreciated.

I need a solution

Hello,

after very long i am log in my Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager. i remember my username and password but am unable to login.

i tried resetpass.bat which is suppose to bring my username and password to admin/admin but this is not the case. i tried to use " forgot password", but after i type the username : admin and my domain, it freezes and nothing happen!. i do not know where to check the version as well since am unable to login.

Please help.

Exclude IP from detecting IPS Attacks on other clients

Hi all,

a costumer has a vulnerability scanner in their network. Every time they run it, the "attacked" clients show a message that they've been attacked. The goal is to suppress these messages.

Our first consideration was to add the IP of the vulnerability scanner to the Excluded Hosts List in the IPS Policy. That doesn't take effect because it means that the excluded host doesn't detect any inbound attacks anymore. But all the other clients "attacked" from that host still keep detecting an incoming attack. So the Excluded Hosts in IPS Policy means inbound traffic to the excluded hosts and doens't mean that all other clients don't check for attacks when the traffic is coming from the excluded host. It took me quite a lot of time to get that.

The costumer doesn't want to:

- temporarily disable IPS

- set the attack signature to allow

Just wants to run the vulnerability scans without the "attacked" clients to show a message of an attack.

Hope you can help me with that because i've read a lot and i have no more ideas.

Upgrade Clients with package - SEPM v14

Hi There,

We have recently upgraded from SEPM 12 to SEPM 14. In our testing envirnoment (clients running on 32 bit OS), I have used the auto upgrade clients with package - and it was successful in updating clients from 12.x to 14.

Now I have to upgrade clients for an other group - which is having client machines running on both windows 32 bit and 64 bit OS.

Please let me know if I can use upgrade client with package on a group having clients running on both windows 32 bit and 64 bit at the same time.

I need a solution

I used the Upgrade wizard yesterday to push out the latest v14.0.2415.0200 to a lot of our servers (OUs).  I did it over 1 day, from 10pm to 5am.  No reboot in the installer package.  I was planning to reboot the needed servers tomorrow night.

Anyway, there are two statuses I want to get help on.  First:

Client has accepted the upgrade package, version 14.0.2415.0200. However, the actual download of the package does not begin until client or OS compatibility is established.

Does anyone know why this is popping up?   These are Server 2008 R2/2012R2/2016.  There are a good number of servers with this status.  Here's the other one:

Client has accepted upgrade package, version 14.0.2415.0200.

But, that's it.  It still shows the old version as the running version.  Why didn't it upgrade?

Also, the Last deployment time shows about an hour ago.  Outside the upgrade window I specified.

Anyone have any ideas?  Thank you!

Dear All:

I have issues with Symantec client version 14.0.194.0000 and  14.0.2349.0100 on WIN 10 PRO or Enterprise version 10.0.14393 or superior , When installing some hard disk (HDD EXTERNAL) the operating system is frozen (pendrive smaller than 8Gb no problems).

I check and uninstall Symantec and them all System working fine, please check this issue. (internal security software (waterwall) working fine)

S.O : Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise/Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

Can't open Properties of an exe file on Windows share

I need a solution

I have noticed longer times opening Properties for an exe file before, but maybe in 14 it became worse. Today i was trying to view exact size of a ~180 MB executable (installer) and just couldn't. Waiting for minutes didn't do anything and i couldn't even restart after that as Windows was hanging on the Logging off screen (logon session hanging because of SEP messing around with Explorer). The only way to do this is to copy a file locally and then view the Properties, which is not convenient. I understand thaty resident has to do its job, but this is ridiculous. If i disable SEP everything works fine.

Sage slow response times

I need a solution

Sage users have reported slow response times when performing transactions.  In particualr the Sage backup takes far longer than usual.

I have noticed that Symantec Install Component is taking up most of the CPU and saw around three instances.  This stopped once the backup completed.

I need a solution

I am having issues adding a client install package to our SEP server. I had follow these instructions and i still cant get it installed. The following links i used.

The last link I am a little confused on. it mentions that i need to get a .info file and that you can get the file from the 14.0.0 MP2 SEPM EN.exe file. How do i get that .info from that .exe file. Do i need to run the .exe file first?
