Sorting out Groups

I need a solution

I had an issue when the grouping wasn't done up properly when I took over.

As I've a few groups as my office added computers over a certain timeframe, it kinda is abit messy in my cloud account.

So I was supposed to have Group 1 (20 users), Group 2 (4 users), Group 3 (2 users) etc, but currently I'm having a default group with most of them inside and others all scattered around.

Any suggestions on how I can capture which computers is supposed to be which group?

Upgrading SEP 12.1.6 to 14.0 MP1 does not move client from old environment

Good morning,

I have an older install of SEPM (v12.1.7166) that im trying to move clients away from and into the newer v14.0.2332 I made an EXE package on v14.0.2332 and sent it to the site to install overtop of the existing client on v12.1.6 (RU6 mp1). The client installs the corect version and the new version is shown in the Help>about but the policy doesnt come over nor does the client leave the old enviorment and attempt to attach to the new.

Does this install path do what i think it does or should the clients be uninstalled first if moving from one environment to another?

Point SEPM14 to new Database server or DNS Alias

I need a solution

HI Everyone,

    I am not SEP admin but working on to upgrade (side by side) from 12 to 14. I have everything running on SEPM14. My database admin want to move Database (in different server) from SQL2008 to SQL16. So we updated our Database 16. How can i Point SEPM14 to new Database server (sql 16). any step by step routine i need to follow?

I need a solution

Hi All,

     I am in processes of upgrading SEPM14 with SQL 2008 (It was mistakenly choose 2008), but now Database team copy the Database to SQL 2016, want us to use SQL 2016.

What do i need to do to point to different database server from SEPM14?

GUP server is downloading delta packages but not the full.zip file

Hi,

In SEPM, for 2 groups, the GUP server is downloading only delta packages but not the full.zip file. The GUP server is updated with the latest definitions but the clients are still out-of-date for one month even though the server has enough bandwidth size and 20+ GB free disk space. One GUP has 12.1.2 version and other has 12.1.6 MP5. May i know why it is not downloading? The server is communicating with SEPM and there is green light too and with latest policy serial number. I still could not find the reason why the full.zip is not downloading.

Symantec Endpoint protection: Secondary Action 102

Hi All,

I have noticed some logs as follows "Actual action: Left alone
Requested action: Process terminate pending restart
Secondary action: 102"

I just wanted to know what does this code '102' mean? I searched it online but could not find any information regarding this. Is this a custom code?Kindly help me out. Thank you.

Ntuser.dat.log1 virus

I need a solution

Hello - I have a virus notification that says there is a Heur.AdvMLB virus located at:  C:\Users\mnguyen4a\ntuser.dat.LOG1.

But when i go to that location the file is not there (i have hidden files marked to show)  I did a search on the file and found that there are 2 files with the same name but located at different locations than indicated on the report.  See screenshot A & B of attachment. Cannot delete them cause they say the files are in use.

I tried to do a scan on the PC and got an error in the command status window.  the PC has a greendot in the SEPM but the Health state says Online/Alert.

Any idea on how to fix?  Should I just reimage the PC?

AD Sync no longer working...

I need a solution

While I already have a support case in for this, I thought I'd touch base here in case someone knew of an easy way out of my predicament.

Some "event" occurred on our network and now AD Syncing is broken. What I need to do is reestablish the sync with Active Directory, without losing all the policy assignments in the process. So that means, I do not want to just delete the AD structure, and re-import. Because again, if I do that, it will be an almost insurmountable task to reassign the correct policies to the correct OU's within our massive AD.

What I'm hoping for is: 1) a trick to either export all the policy assignments (for the entire SEPM, or just the AD Structure) so that if I do remove the structure, I can quickly reestablish the correct policies. 2) a way to fix AD Syncing when this is the error I'm getting.

"The directory server from which one or more organizational units have been imported does not exist. Ensure that all the directory server exists, and then import the organizational units before trying to synchronize."

All of the directory servers still exist, and I can authenticate to them without issue. The directory servers were deleted, and then re-added...sadly the error above persists.

Any thoughts or suggestions while I wait for a call back from Enterprise Technical Support?

SEP14 MP1 command line install results in unmanaged client

Hi,

When I do my normal Mac SEP 14 MP1 install via command line it is resulting in an unmanaged client. I've been working with support since March 10th and they are completely useless. I have tried it on multiple machines and it fails on all of them. I take my normal "Symantec Endpoint Protection.zip" you get when exporting from SEPM, unzip it and run:

sudo /usr/sbin/installer-pkg "Symantec Endpoint Protection/Additional Resources/SEP.mpkg" -target /

and it installs but is unmanaged, has no virus definitions and can't connect to my server. If I run the "Symantec Endpoint Protection Installer" using the UI it installs properly and connects to my SEPM.

Any thoughts? I am doing the exact same process as in 12. Thanks.

SONAR.Heur.RGC!g75 when run our app in Visual Studio 2013

Hi there,

Recently we are swithing to Visual Studio 2013 from Visual Studio 2008. Hower every time when we try to run our app in release mode in Visual Studio 2013, Symantec Endpoint Protection pop up saying "SONAR.Heur.RGC!g75" is detected and deleted the output exe file.

Note that:

1) same code runs fine with Vistual Studio 2008 under the same enviorment

2) debug version runs fine with Vistual Studio 2013.

3) if we install the app first then run, Endpoint Protection won't complain. It only complains if run in Visual Studio 2013.

Any suggestion?

Utilisation of 2 GUP

Hello,

Can you tell me please if we can configure 2 GUPs in order to:

- The GUP number 2 download the updates from the GUP number 1.

- Knowing that the 2 GUPs are in Two diffrents networks separated by a firewall (Risk of non support broadcask/multicast ? )

Add incoming firewall Exception for Specific IP Addresses to all computers?

HI,

Im trying to add a Firewall rule which allows connections from 16 specific IP addresses to all clients. The 16 IP addresses are servers which do not have sep installed on them

So far i cannot find a way of configuring this as the FW rules a configured to allow specifc services and ports from any IP address.

I would like the 16 IP addresses i have to connect to client compuyer on any port.

does anyone know how this can be done?

Client state as 'Offline' - Agent installed & connected

Hi,

I'm having a problem I'm trying to figure out for the last few hours..

Few of my clients are showing state as 'Offline', although the Endpoint agent is actually installed on the computers and is connected to the server as I can see in 'Troubleshooting'.

I cannot control them from SEPM.

I do get updates on the clients.

I tried to restart the client computers - didn't work.

I tried to search for clients, I did find them but they are offline.

I think that maybe the client IP has changed, but shouldn't that be updated in the sepm?

how do I update the client IP or refresh it somehow?

Hello,

Is there a SEP 12.1 or SEP 14 Linux client installer that is compatible with Gentoo? Based on documentation, it looks like a no. I'd just like some quick confirmation.

unable Ping, RDP and Login after SEP client upgrade to 14

I need a solution

Hi 

   I have updated SEPM to 14.0.1904. When i install client on windows 10 (had previously SEP Client 12 installed), i am unable to ping, RDP, or login with new account at all. seems like it disable network card. But when i login as cache crendential, ipconfig from comptuer, getting right ip. 

Policy was imported from SEPM 12 TO SEPM14, so there is no changed on policy.

RDP and ping enable in policy as shown below. Any help???

Hi,

we have SEP console on 12.1.6  running on windows 8.1 32 bit os. can we migrate to SEP 14 on same server also. need clarificatoin on that.

Can we install SEP 14 manager on desktop OS having win 7/810 32 bit ver.
