SEPM failed to connect to the server

the SEPM has been working properly on my PC, i was update the java, then i downloaded the SEPM from server again, but show me failed to connect to the server, see attachment, i was already tried to uninstall the new java and download the java version8 101 from SEPM server, still the same problem.

on web console is working, also i tried on flash install PC, download the java from SEPM, it's working. so i think it should be the JAVA setting. but how to solve?

the SEP on my PC is 14.01904.0000, also it is the last version on server.

SEPM Risk log shows different action than SEP client

Hello,

We have a workstation which detected virus and when we check in the local risk log it shows action taken is Quarantined. However in the SEPM console -> Monitors -> Risk log it shows "Remediation in progress". I waited for the next hearbeat but the status in the SEPM console is still the same.

SEP client is version 12.1 RU6 MP5, SEPM is 12.1 RU6 MP7.

Does anyone know why is this difference in the action taken status?

I need a solution

We experiance a problem in one of our Server 2008 domain controllers.

The server is not a GUP server. It is running server 2008 R2 std and SEP client 14 MP1 (14.0.2332.0100).

In our case it is not the file netstat.db-wal file which is growing very big but the file netstat.db.

It keeps growing and hangs our system after a while because the C-drive in running out of space.

Anyone recognizes this problem or know the solution to this problem? Thanks!

SEP 14 - GUP vs Cloud Def's - Standard vs Dark Network

With SEP 14 does the standard client installation, that uses the cloud definitions, use the GUP? Or does the Dark network install only use the GUP.

All my remote sites around the world come through our headquarters here in the US for internet access. So, should I not just use the dark network client and continue to use GUPs?

Is there a best practices paper for this? Or am I missing something obvious?

The SSL cert on our SEPM server had expired.  It was not possible to just renew the cert because the type of cert that we used to use is no longer available to us.  I requested and received the proper cert, finally got it properly installed, and have the system working like it should, except... our clients still don't seem to be getting updates like they should and they aren't running the scans that were scheduled in policies like they should.

With the cert changed, must we go back and deploy new communications settings to all of the clients?

I have read a few threads that  MP1a should be soon out. Any at least approximate ETA on this? I have installed 14 MP1 in our testing environment and debating on whether i should update our work environment to this version or wait. Will it be in a few days, weeks, month out?

How to disable What's new window on 14 version?

I need a solution

I have installed 14 in a testing environment and every time i login it presents What's new window. There is no checkbox to disable it as it was in 12 version. How can i get rid of that window? As it is a testing environment, it is on a trial license. Maybe that's the cause of it poping up every time?

I need a solution

I'm trying to update the server certificate on my SEPM 14 server with a certificate signed by my organizations CA and running into this issue.

The certificate is valid in the webserver on all browsers. I've exported the certificate with the private key into a password protected pfx, which seems to import correctly in SEPM. I've followed these instructions: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO81061.html#v57845489​ , but after restarting the SEPM services, I get the titular 'server certificate is not validated' error and cannot log in.

I've been resolving this by running the management server configuration wizard and loading a recovery zip file with the old key in it.

Has anyone run into this before? Is there any gotchas to creating the certificate/request? Here is a snip from my scm-ui err file in %TEMP%:

Server schema and database scheme dont match

Good afternoon,

Im trying t install a second SEPM and am getting the error about the database schema and server schema not matching. I found an article on symantec here: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH178... but it was less than helpful in its resolution.

I also tried the "upgrade.bat" as proposed here: https://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/server-sch... but that too was either too old for my issue or didnt work the way the article described.

Is there a way to upgrade my second install of SEPM to match the existing server version? It appears that the existing server version is 14.0.2332.0100 and the setup.exe im trying to use is 14.0.1904.0000

Hi All,

I want to create a HI policy just to check if SEP is running and if it's not, start the service. I'm running SEP 12.1.7061.6600 on a Windows 7.

I created a support case in Symantec and the technician told me that for the policy to run ok, I need a SEP client installed and running so if the client is no running there is no way to apply the policy so the repair never occurs.

Is there any way to make this policy works? Have any of you the same issue?

Unmanaged Client - Update Interval

Hi,

(Unmanaged, 14.MP1, Windows 10, setup was to get the updates from cloud (first option)) 

One of Cient PCwill not update until I press live update button (SEP sits on the existing definition for as many days).

What could be wrong here?, PC is always connected internet, How can I know the update interval of the same?

Or is there a script (some thing similar) to automate the same?

SEPM Manager Configuration Manager stuck at 84%

Dears,

This is the Live production environment in my office for the manager that handles 7000+ machines. We had to change the Database -SQL password for security reasons.

After password change the SEPM configuration Wizard was run on Node 1. Intinitally it gave failed error: " lack of space" ( we had 53 GB space) and then went upto 84% and remained there for 12 hours and got completed.

After Node 1 was completed, the services on this server was automatically started. I opened a ticket with Symantec support and they confirmed it okay to continue running the Wizard on the 2nd node , even when the services is running on the 1st node.

Since yesterrday morning I have started the Wizard on Node 2 and it has been stuck at 84%. now it has been more than 24 hoursSEPM-wizard.jpg

Please help! Support says wait and wait...

Computers not scanned report incorrect

I need a solution

We run the Computers Not Scanned Report each week over the time range of "Past week".

The reports keeps listing machines as not scanned that clearly are current in the SEPM console.

What is this report talking about?

Initial Scan of CD's reports more files than exist on disc

It's possible I'm not googling this right because I didn't find any info which is why I'm posting here, but I'm looking for explanation of behavior that I believe to be expected.

We have SEP 12 - in some areas managed by SEPM and others are unmanaged standalones.  Some of the users were reporting odd behavior so I created a test CD that included a word doc, excel, txt file, pdf and a zip file (containing a copy of the other 4 files).

I went around to multiple systems, both managed and unmanaged and noticed that on the initial scan at each station, the results said that it found and scanned 59 files even though there are only 5.  However if I run the scan again and again, it correctly reports 5 files found and scanned.

I'm assuming this extra "54 files" is somehow related to meta data on the CD or something, that after the initial scan it skips?

Also, the issue that started this test was that some users reported some scans finishing immediately, stating that ZERO files were found and scanned even though there were files on their discs.  But I was unable to reproduce that problem.

If anyone has any suggestions that I can report back to management on why it does this, that would be much appreciated.  They don't like it when I say "I don't know, that's just how it works".  Or at the very least - can others confirm that theirs behave the same?

Hello!

I absolutely do need a solution but the radio button would not allow me to click on that option.

I have made at least 5 calls today to try to:

a.  Uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection

and

b.  Install Norton Internet Security which I purchased on 01/02/2017

I lastly called 877-294-5255 and was told to post a message on this website and that a Symantec Support employee would contact me to assist with step (a) uninstall.
