We used to get .pkg installers for SEP. With 12.1.4, we're getting .app installers. I asked the people who run SEP here, and they have no idea... it's like I'm speaking Martian. What can I point them to that will spell out EXACTLY what they need to do to produce a .pkg installer?
I'm preparing to upgrade all the client worstations to 12.1.4a after upgrading the manager. I was asked if the users will need to reboot immediately or can they choose to delay the restart.
I know in the Enterprise version you can set it in the manager to allow them to do so but not in Small Business Edition. However I don't recall if the users will be prompted for the restart and could then choose to delay it or does it just happen immediately.

We recently upgraded our SEPMs to 12.1.4 (Windows 2003 r2 x86 servers) Last Thursday I began deploying install packages to a subset of our environment and since we have seen an increase in reputation violations. At first I thought it was just the Prism application, that something had changed in the program that caused it to become an unknown. However I have been seeing others. Was wondering if anyone else has seen this behavior in 12.1.4. Does it use the same reputation database as 11.0.6?
Migrated to a new server but unable to remove the replication due to the defaultr groups still assigned to the old server list. Group shows as gray so unable to change/assigne to new server list. What is missed?

I just got through a fresh install of SEPM 12.1.4 on server 2012 using an external SQL server and am receiving the "Error 0x10010000" dialog boxes when using portions of the management console.
It looks like it is an issue with PHP? the recommended fix is to add the SQL server active directory user account as a local administrator?
Is there another fix besides this? I already added this account to the following directories with full permission;
%:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub
%:\ProgramData\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Php\temp
%:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\Reporting

I'm running SEPM 12.1.4023.4080 (upgraded from 12.1.2)
The directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data\outbox\ImportPackage keeps increasing by about 700MB a day. It was also doing this when I was on 12.1.2 (I had hoped upgrading would sort out the problem but to no avail). I've already read this article....
... but I'm not massively keen on doing a disaster recovery procedure if I can help it.
Firstly, what are these files? Surely they're not the actual Import packages that I make client SEP install from are they?
Secondly, rather than run a DR, is there anything wrong with me just making a scheduled task to delete everything in that folder once a day?

I have upgraded Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager from 11.0 to 12.1 in our VM machine, howevr someone mistakenly revert the snapshot of the VM to the previous date and after that whenever I am trying to login to the console using credentail admin, it gives me the below error
"Failed to connect to the server.
Make sure that the server is running and your session has not timed out. If you can reach the server but cannot logon, make sure that you provided the correct parameters.if you are experiencing network issues, contact your system administrator"

Wondering if anybody could help me with what should be a simple question. When running the report for System and Site Status it has a line for Total clients not reporting status and this is 1. For the life of me I haven't been able to find out where I can find out which machine this is. As it is a report you can't click on the number in the report to find out further info.
Where in the SEPM version 12 console do I look to find this offending machine? At lot of articles I've found whilst searching suggests there should be something on the home page but I can't see it?
Hi all. I have Symantec Endpoint Protection manager version 12.1.3001.165 running on a Windows Server 2003 R2 32 bit server. We also have SQL server 2005 compact running on the server which handles our BackupExec databases. How do I find out if SEP is using the embedded database or a SQL database? No, I don't see any SEP databases in SQL management studio, but it may be somewhere else. Also, is the embedded database a type of SQL database or is it a true non-SQL database?
Looking through logs from a few days back, I've identified a couple of machines with the risk "Bloodhound.NeuralMBR". The event/action is "Virus found (left alone)". So it appears that we've got a master boot record infection.
I've got a separate report that runs regularly to publish all machines with infected status - a way of making sure nothing slips through the cracks in incident response. But the machines reporting Bloodhound.NeuralMBR aren't showing up - why?
I would like to set up my desk PC as an unmanaged detector. How do I do this and how does this happen. How will it let me know when it finds unmanaged pcs?
Hello again - if I create an install package and then assign it to a group, does that mean that any pc in that group will get updated when they connect to the network, like if a new PC get connected to the network and is in the group with the assigned pacakge - it will be sent the install package??

I have an application that has exhibited some crappy performance. I need to generate proof that SEP isn't the root cause. I need to figure out a way to report about prior scan times of server01 for the last month (week, n days, whatever is easiest and as far back as I can go). I am currently using a MS SQL database as my backend for the server. I checked the canned reports and there doesn't seem to be any way to pull a history report other than the last time a scan ran. Also would there be a way to determine what type of scan was run?

In the past months, it seems that it never success in downloading the definition and I wonder if I can delete the items in C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate Administrator\clu-prod directory ?
