have currently W2K3 R2 STD SP2 32Bit. installed. I need to upgrade/reinstall to latest Server 2008 R2 64bit better 2012 64 bit. What would be the best solution? Any help would be GREAT.

现在想避免这样的情况,实现从sepm获取原来的hwid,写入到客户端的sephwid.xml和注册表中,以达到覆盖原sepm中相同机器名的效果
实际用虚拟机测试了一下,手工修改xml和注册表信息后,每次smc重启后,会随机生成hwid,没有使用手工替换的,请问应该如何处理才能实现呢?

During installation of SEP client we encountered the error "Error 2381. Directory does not exist"
We already done with the following steps to further troubleshoot the error:
- Disable the UAC
- Disable the Windows Firewall
- Disable the Windows Defender (Also stop the Windows Defender Service)
- Run the Clean wipe
- Restart the Machine
- Run the Setup File
But still the error still exist during installation. I need your in resolving this error.

How do I convert a SEP12 client from managed to unmanaged without reinstalling?
Is there a way to stop full updates from being distributed and only allow incrementals. We are having issues with SEP12RU4a causing slow network response
as clients on RU3 are causing requests for full update downloads and not incrementals, yet incrementals are available on the server.
Why is there no notification/alert that incrementals are not being created or error in creating them?
Anyone know where to get SEP for Linux ? Is it a GUI install or scripted? Where to get documentation on it?

there's equivelent command that use "msiexec /i "SEP.msi" /L*V SEP_Inst.log to create SEP_Inst.log while the installation failed at initial period.
is there any equivelent command to create SIS_Inst.log?
I met a SEP install failed case, SEP_Inst.log was generated successfully but SIS_Inst.log is missing, I've searched whole disk still can't find it.

A new Group would be created for the XP machines.
For example, we have an XP box that runs an application that sends data via FTP to another box on the same network. I would like to lock it down as much as possible, allowing only essential services like DNS, Remote Management, and the FTP client. Access to the Internet is not needed.
I never worked with firewall policies in their most restrictive state and then allowing services/applications in or out. I would imagine logging on the client side will aid in isolating items that need to be allowed or blocked.
I know this is asking a lot, but with time ticking down, I think this might become a popular request. Perhaps some sample polices that establish a baseline.

If all of the DNS Servers on the client computer are listed below
I understand this if all DNS IPs all present. My scenario now is if i add in 2 additonal DNS IP that is not ready yet, meaning the system won't be able to reach these 2 DNS IP, will the location awareness still works correctly? Does the condition needs all DNS IP to be present in order to work as it is or i can add addtional DNS IP that is not reachable in advanced?
I need to add in a few new DNS that is not reachable at moment as the sytem is not up yet. However i am afraid with the above DNS condition, My location awareness function will break. Please advice. Thanks
I have a SEPM server still on 11, the embedded database was corrupt. I thus uninstalled it and reinstalled it on the same server. I used the keystore.jks and Domain ID of existing server; I can see that all clients are appearing on the new installed server. Latest virus definition has already been downloaded on the server, but problem is that none of the clients are updating. Can you please help me out. There is 30 client and I don't want to end up having to sylink each of them.

Hello, we've got a serious problem concerning Internet Explorer 9 on various pcs with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit edition .
For months we used to save username and passwords fields for a faster way of work , but now without having installed ANY
software nor hardware, Internet Explorer doesn't remind any username / and or password .
We use Symantc Endpoint Protection 12.1.4 here.
Maybe its symantec which cancels everytime the tracking cookies during the daily scans ?
I dont know how to solve the problem .

We have SEP 12.1.4, our users are complaining that when they access files from file server over network from their PC file will take time to open perticularly picture image files. Before upgrade from 11.7 it was OK and we notice that if we stop SEP client on file server the access performance of files from this file server from user PC is improve what could be reason from slowness.

I need your help in analysing the issue why the server got rebooted after the SEP upgrade.Upgrade was carried on 20 servers. out of 20 servers only 2 servers were rebooted unexpectedly. package was created with "no reboot".
Kindly give me the possibilities under what instances a system gets rebooted in general and due to Symantec in particular.

We have Symantec Endpoint Protection and Encryption running on our laptops (Latitude E6330s)
One particular laptop is having issues with SEP (version 11.0.6100.645)
Laptop Windows 7 Professional, i7 3550M, 8 GB of RAM
The user reported that they shutdown the computer (which installed windows updates and was able to shut it down properly) The next day when the user started the computer, the startup was
1. Extremely slow
2. Hard rive light is constantly on
3. The laptop is running at a snail speed
4. The does reach the desktop but the hard drive light is constantly on and nothing works
5. When I manage to double click on SEP it was showing that "Proactive Threat Protection" is OFF. Then Network Threat Protection gets turn off. All this time the hard drive light is solid on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
We currently have 20 servers SEP 12.1 RU4a on all of them. A decission has been made to remove IPS off the servers as on some of them the IPS element is causing BSD.
We've placed an autoupgrade package on the same version minus the IPS element with immediate download time. In past 24 hours only 1 of the servers has taken the update and removed IPS. The other 19 servers remain with IPS still on them. We obviously can't upgrade these servers SEP clients as atm there is no package higher than RU4. An when we go onto the servers and manually remove the IPS elment in add/remove programs there is no issue.
So why does this work on one machine and not the others?
