Deploying v12 clients to old OS in a mixed v14 environment

Hi,

We've recently upgraded (from v12) to the latest v14.2 environment; my question is about any unsupported 2003/XP clients still in our landscape. Our current SEPM groups are based on server role, so contain a mixture of old and new operating systems (2016 servers as well as 2012 and 2003 servers in 1 group). My questions are:

1. If I add a v14 package deployment to the group, will it be deployed to the (unsupported) XP/2003 OS? Or will that simply never happen?
    
2. Assuming the above is no problem, and I add a v12 package next to the v14 one, will the system be 'smart enough' to only deploy the v12 package to XP/2003, and the v14 package to any higher OS levels?

I'd like to have having to manually separate these OS levels in different AV groups so would be ideal if I can just mix the different deployment packages on 1 group.
