Requires reboot

I have downloaded Symantec endpoint protection from my University website. The University recommends it. However when I open the site on my laptop it says that it needs a reboot. I have restarted the computer several times but it continues to say the same. 

Also how can I be sure that the Firewall is operational and I am protected,
