Let me start by saying, today’s date is 10/17/12 because when you read the problem you will think this must be from 15 years ago.
We have 22 servers with less than 1500 MB and 35 with less than 2000 MB, this is not a typo I did say MB and not GB. The problem is that SEP requires 1500 to 2000 MB in free space to uncompress its AV definitions. Please read: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH93110
I have been tasked with finding a work around for this problem. The two options we discussed are: Using another drive to decompress the files or storing the Definitions on a different drive. If we can store the Definitions on a different drive, can we store them on a networked drive? I can think of so many reasons why this is not a good idea but until the servers are decommissioned we have to do something.
