Are there any best practices with regards to the number of locations defined per group within SEPM?

A colleague stated that they read somewhere that no more than 7 locations per group was recommended, however they cannot recall where this article was nor, what the implications of having more than 7 groups were.

We are running SEPM 12.1 RU1 MP1
