Currently SEPM running 12.1.6 MP3 on a Server 2003 box with an embedded database. We need to migrate to a later version of windows. Since we can't go from a 32 bit server OS directly to a 64 bit server OS we rolled a new 2012 R2 box. After much searching on the forums the solution, when using an embedded database, appears to be to create a new site and set it up as a replication partner with the first one. Then somehow transfer all operations to the new server and then decomission the old server.
In setting up the new server as a replication partner we have run into this snag. On the final step of the server configuration it contacts the other original server and sets up the site. During this process I'm asked several times to approve the certificate. After about the third time the new server spits this error message out.
The error says "The remote site could not finish aggregating data for replication. Check the logs on the remote site for more information, address any issues, and try again."
I've looked at the original server and can find no issue outstanding with regard to replication. I've looked at the log file location but don't see any relevant logs that it might be talking about. Back on the original server, under Admin, Servers, then under Remote Sites the new server and site name are listed. But it's listed as never having replicated.
Any suggestions on what might be causing this? Is there a better way to replace an aging server with an embedded database?
