Application & Device Control not working as expected

Hi,

I am testing the SEP 12.1 RU6 client on a Win 8.1 Pro system, using the same ADC policy as we have on Win7 and have noticed that the Win8.1 system is behaving differently than Win7.

All applications we have blocked from launching in Explorer.exe are working fine. The issue comes up with Internet Explorer and Chrome. We have a rule to block any executables from launching in the Downloads folders or Temp folders that the browsers use. In Win7, this works as expected, in Win8.1, the rule is ignored and the executable launches.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with ADC?

Why does this work in Win7 and not in Win8.1?
