Active Scanning

I have modified the Exceptions policy to exclude directories from being scanned.  I have selected to exclude these items by all scans, but is this where I define active scanning exclusions as well or is that in a different location?  I came from a McAfee shop about a year ago and havent really taken time to get familiar with Symantec all that much.
