Symantec AV Causing Broadcast Storm

I need a solution

Hi,

I am experiencing the below issue with SEP 12.1.1 and after upgrading to 12.1.4 also experiencing it...

Initially SEPM 12.1.1 was installed in our production environment and was the only installation we had which was then rolled out to customers. We had notification from one of the installation engineers that after installing the SEP client on the Hyper-V server, if the service was running it would cause a broadcast storm. The service was disabled until a resolution was in place.

Rather than upgrading the currently live AV environment, we built a second AV environment (the latest version, 12.1.4) in a seperate customer facing only domain. This was then once again, rolled out to customers.

The same customer that had the Hyper-V issue previously then started experiencing this issue again (although it was an application server not Hyper-V).

I have located the below link which appears to have been a similar issue to what we were experiencing with the 12.1.1 version...

Since this doesn't have any resolution I've come to raise this again. I have stumbled upon what appears to have been the reason why Hyper-V wouldn't work but fixing 12.1.1 is not the priority.

Any suggestions on what is causing this broadcast storm in 12.1.4 or how to stop it (excluding uninstalling client/leaving it unprotected/using different product)?

Thanks.
