I need a solution
I'm still a little unclear on the subtle nuances of the Restart Settings applied in the Client Install Settings of an Installation package and the Restart Settings found in the General Settings of the policy of a Clients Group.
I'm fairly certain that the "Group" Restart Settings apply to every object in that group. That said:
- When a Clients Group has an applied Installation Package that has Restart Settings that differ from the Restart Settings of the Clients Group Policy, which Restart Settings take precedence at the time the endpoint get the client installed; those of the Installation package applied to the Group, or those of the Group’s Policy?
- If the Answer to this is, “Those of the Group’s Policy” then what is the purpose of specifying the Installation settings whe a Package is configured for the group?
- Should the Group Restart Settings automatically adopt the Restart Settings of the Install Package once the Install Package is applied to the Group?
- Does the Client Install Settings of a Client Installation Package only apply to Exported Packages?
- Are the Restart settings of a Group's policy used only for package installations or are they used for on-going reboots as set in the schedule? (OK, I do know the answer to this one but you’d think that would be the a reasonable assumption given that there are already Restart Settings applied to each and every package already.)
There are probably a couple more questions about this that I'm not asking here but this is all I could conjure up in this stream of consciousness.
By the way, I already know "how" to set the restart settings, what I'm asking for are reasonable explanations of what to expect from the various permentations of the settings and how it all works together.
Any and all help is appreciated.
