Controlling client liveupdates if using default management

I need a solution

We use the default management server to feed updates to our clients. For the user group I cannot set the "liveupdate" schedule for the client updates. Its inactive. I did find this article that says I must go to admin and set the "liveupdate" schedule on the server.

If I set a daily schedule for a specific time on the server under admin can I assume clients will only attempt to update and pull updates during that time?, or does that simply mean the server will grab updates at that time, but the clients will still attempt to pull updates every 4 hours (which I dont want).

I am trying to restrict the time clients attempt to do a live update. It is causing bandwidth issues on our network. I only want clients to attempt to pull updates in a 3 hour window, and after that point stop and retry again the next day.
