Email alerts configuration

I need to configure email alerts for each of our domains in the SEPM. I want the From address to reflect each domain. Our domain names don't end in standard .com or .org's. When I set the Sender address to our domain name I get the error Enter a valid email address. Is there a hot fix for this or is there a line I can add to conf.properties to prevent this error?
