Need some help for below situation :
Our SAV parent didn't distribute the definition update to the client even the parent already updated.
Currently we're manage SAV server with below specification :
1. Parent using Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
2. All client are also using the same OS with the parent
3. SAV version 10.1.0.394
I run windows 7 64 bit and I am having trouble installing the end point protection norton antivirus and spyware.
Everytime I download then I try to install, after a while the software gives me an error and closes alone and it always either keep telling me I have to restart and I did that many times or the file could not be extracted.
I was reading one of the discussions before and I have the file Sep_Inst in my temp and I saw that I should copy paste 10 lines after return Value 1 command so I am pasting it here and I hope you can help me.

Hi team.
I am facing issue in SEPM 11.0. SEPM manager not pussing update to clients and SEPM manager is updated with the latest definition. All clients are not updated with the latest definition include windows XP and Servers. I have tryed by manuly push the definition by manager but still fail to take update. In Manager some client are showing online status and some are showing offline status.
I have changed sylink file on 1 client machine ( windows 2003 server) after replacing sylink it is showing on line but not taking update.
Please help to share recommanded setting for SEPM with client.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

I am fresh to this community and need your help.
I am getting ready to upgrade my SEPv11 to v12.1. Now I am reading the the Disaster Recovery document to prepare for the worst. I am a little confused by one of the steps:
If you have one domain only, find and copy the sylink.xml
file from a directory in \\Program Files\Symantec\
Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data\outbox\agent\ .
I do infact have one domain. When I navigate to here I do not simply see one sylink.xml file. I see a bunch of folders that contain Sylink.xml files. After checking for the Domain encryption key within the Sylink.xml files I see they vary from folder to folder.
What I need to know is should I just go ahead and copy one of these or do I need all of them?
Any help would be appreciated.

After doing quite a lot of searching, I haven't found any reference to Symantec securing its registry keys or how to get around it for required changes.
When trying to create a new key value here {HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\AV\Storages\Filesystem\RealTimeScan} I end up with a message saying "Cannot creat value: Error writing to the registry." This only seems to happen in the Symantec Keys. I need to change the registry to resolve a Kernel stack overflow issue that is related to Symantec Endpoint Protection (I'm running v12).

I've already made sure the permissions are set to allow me full access, so I figure Symantec must be restriting access. Can someone tell me the secret?

After we replaced/changed policy of one group, there will be an item in "Recent changes appear blow" window. And the new "Policy serial number" will be created accordingly.
My question is Why the time in "Policy serial number" is different with policy changed time?
Take the attached picture as example:
I updated the policy at time November 2, 2012 10:31:17 AM HKT, the event item in "Recent changes appear below:" window display proerply. But the time in Policy serial number is 11/02/2012 02:31:17.

we have installed SEPM 11.0.6 installed in our environment and is working fine. now the issue is we are about to change the IP scheme of our network that is we are moving on another network. so we want to move the clients from that network to the new network. is there a way that we can move it without uninstalling and reinstalling the client on each machine ? (as uninstalling and reinstalling SEP on 150 machine is not an easy job)...
help will be really appriciated

Dear all,
I have SEPM 12.1.1101.401 RU1 MP1 server console, Then we have SEP 12.1. RU1 mp1 /12.1 version is already in some of the client machines.
What the issue we are facing means, the client machines (which is in SEP12.1) is not getting an update from the server, not sync with server also.
Note : with out uninstalled the client software.We will do the updation.
If it is possible means please share that information with me.

Iam working in an organisation with 300+ branches. The bandwidth utilization goes extremely high on peak hours due to antivrus updation which takes place in those branches. Is ther any way of scheduling the update installation in non-peak hours?
We are using symantec endpoint protection manager 12.1.. and have created 300+ groups for our individual branches.

3. How many SEPM server can connect to single SQL database ?
we have two sepm servers and one sql database in loadbalacing on one site and we want configure an other SEPM server on DR site. what are yours suggestions to accomplish this requirement.

is there any way to modify and or control what times the servers/desktop do their updates? or is it all ramdom.
(at 9:00 am every morning its just killing our network and we see that is when the servers/desktops are updating.
i see in version 12 you have more control over it.

I've not had a chance to evaluate is as part of the beta test so was wondering if it will provide any performance improvements over a normal standard cache.

I set up a remote site to pull updates from a GUP. Those machines are not updating when in the office (the laptops appear to pull down updates from Live Update when they are not in the office). In the event log, I see:
Event ID: 201

Desc: Content download to the client failed
Moniker: {GUID}
Sequence: 121102020
Source: Group Update Provider
Size: 750286
So, it looks like the client attempts to download an update from the GUP, given it has information about the update package. But it isn't happening. The GUP is a Windows 2003, and the clients are Windows 7. Wrong update package? Change to a different GUP? Or install Live Update Administrator?
